Working with Spreadsheets
Upload a Spreadsheet
Go to "My Spreadsheets" and click the Upload icon. Click the Browse button to find the .xls file you would like to upload. It works just like attaching a document to an email. Once you have located the file, click Open. If you would like to upload more files, click the "Upload more files" link. The files will be automatically uploaded to My Spreadsheets unless you select an existing folder or create a new folder.
Note: eXpresso supports .xls files. Users of Office 2007 will need to save their spreadsheets as an Excel 97-2003 Workbook before uploading it to eXpresso.
File Size
While there is no limit to the number of rows and columns allowed in eXpresso, there is a practical limit to the size file that works well in online applications. We advise our users that spreadsheets of more than 500k will open and save slowly. To avoid frustration, it is probably best to try to keep files to around this size. You will find that this is true of most online applications. If you are working with a large file, you will want to consider using eXpresso Off-line for Excel. You may notice that it takes a while to open and save very large files, but you will have normal performance as you edit them and perform calculations.
Edit a Spreadsheet
To edit a spreadsheet, simply click the name of the spreadsheet you want to edit. The spreadsheet you have selected will open. You can now edit it, just as you would if you were in Excel. For formatting and formula options, click the Commands and Options icon in the toolbar. When your changes are complete, be sure to click the Save button. Your changes are now saved in eXpresso and you can return to the My Spreadsheets tab by clicking Close.
For extensive editing and use of Excel's advanced features, you may want to use eXpresso Off-line for Excel.
Multiple Worksheets
eXpresso supports spreadsheets that have multiple worksheets or "tabs." You can see the list of worksheets and select the worksheet you want to view by clicking the arrow next to the worksheet name at the lower left hand side of your spreadsheet.
eXpresso Off-line for Excel
eXpresso Off-line for Excel gives you offline access to your online spreadsheets. It combines the convenience of editing inside Excel with the sharing and collaborative environment offered by eXpresso. Spreadsheets opened "offline" in Excel are locked for editing by other users. Once the spreadsheet owner has saved any changes made back to eXpresso and closes the spreadsheet, the lock is released.
Spreadsheet Properties
Click the Expand icon next to the spreadsheet. This will open the spreadsheet properties to reveal any notes, tags or sharing details. You can also change the name of the spreadsheet by accessing the spreadsheet properties.
View Spreadsheet History
Click the box next to the name of the spreadsheet. Next click the History of Files link from the menu on the left. You will see the history of your file including actions related to editing, sharing, and notes.
Rollback Changes to a Spreadsheet
You can rollback (delete) changes to a spreadsheet if the Set Save Point box was selected when the changes to the spreadsheet were saved. To rollback the changes, select the box next to the spreadsheet name and then click History of Files from the menu on the right. Click the Rollback link from the Actions on Files column and the file will be restored to the previous version.
Time Out Period
For your security, eXpresso will automatically log users out of the application after 30 minutes of inactivity. This is to ensure that unauthorized users do not access your spreadsheets.
